Events in 2016
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- We will be spending a couple of days at Berry Head Fort during which time you will gain an understanding of the aim of the CITiZAN project and how to identify, record and monitor archaeology which is under threat. We will be meeting at 0930 for a 1000 start at the Artillery store on Berry Head, parking is plentiful but charges do apply. We will send out more information closer to the event.
- As part of the national Heritage Days we're running a Rapid Recording workshop - after a classroom session in Ramsgate Tunnels we'll walk along the beach at Ramsgate, to see what we can see and record it for our interactive coastal map! CITiZAN is pleased to be running this event in collaboration with Thanet Coastal Communities Fund.
- Learn about the submerged forest in Cleethorpes. CITiZAN Archaeologists will provide a talk on the prehistoric submerged landscape of the North East Lincolnshire Foreshore.
- Come and experience the 4000 year old prehistoric submerged landscape at Cleethorpes; see the remains of the submerged forest and the eroding peat shelves which in 2015 exposed a prehistoric trackway. The event is part of the Heritage Open Weekend.
- A chance to catch up on what CITiZAN's South East team and volunteers have been up to since the project began last year, and what we have planned for the future.
