Defending our Island - Archaeological Survey at Berry Head, Brixham

12/09/2016  |  9:30 a.m.

Berry Head, Brixham

Berry Head is a promontory which has long been utilised for its natural defences, today it is peaceful national nature reserve but a couple of hundred years ago the promontory was buzzing with the English Army as one of the many fortifications built at the turn of the 19th century in response to the threat of the French and Napolean.

We will be spending a couple of days at the Fort during which time you will gain an understanding of the aim of the CITiZAN project and how to identify, record and monitor archaeology which is under threat.

We will be meeting at 0930 for a 1000 start at the Artillery store on Berry Head, parking is plentiful but charges do apply. We will send out more detailed information closer to the event.

As always its free but with limited spaces, so booking is essential via eventbrite.
