Events in 2016
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- Join CITiZAN for a guided walk of the archaeology of South Landing, explore the remains of the sea-going heritage and the defensive nature of the east coast of Yorkshire. This event is done in partnership with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. This event is free but please book.
- Join CITiZAN at Howick on the Northumberland coast for a training session and to help us record the remains of a rock cut bathing pool.
- Join CITiZAN South East for a residential training weekend on Orford Ness in Suffolk. There's plenty to record on this beautiful and extremely dynamic section of coastline including a former coastguard station and a recently exposed cold war missile testing target.
- A free workshop in rapid archaeological recording at Coalhouse Fort Park, Thurrock, Essex. During the workshop you’ll learn more about the history of this fascinating site, fortified since the 15th century. You'll also develop the skills to use our mobile App to add detail to CITiZAN’s England wide interactive map of coastal and intertidal archaeology.
- Would you like to develop archaeological skills, meet new people and learn about the defence of Thanet in the Second World War? Then join CITiZAN as we record the anti-tank cylinders and associated features in Stonelees Nature Reserve. Places are limited so please sign up as soon as you can if you are interested. No previous experience is necessary – just enthusiasm!
