Events in 2020
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- In the month we were supposed to start work surveying at Old Mill Creek... This webinar from our Discovery programme officer Grant Bettinson will give you a quick intro to the webinar series and then a whistle-stop tour through the abandoned vessels, their history and current remains and our plans for the future survey of all the vessels at Old Mill Creek on the River Dart.
- Join us on this week's Low Tide Trail for a virtual tour around Forton Lake, Gosport! We’ll discover the stories behind various vessels, who now rest amongst the mud, barnacles, and seaweed on the inter tidal creek at Forton Lake near Portsmouth Harbour. Find us at: https://twitter.com/citizan1
- We will be joined by very special guest Dr Matt Pope talking about archaeology of early humans on the coastal plain of Sussex and Hampshire.
- Join the East Kent Coast Discovery Programme as we walk around the inner banks of Faversham and Oare Creeks. We'll record any remains we see with the CITiZAN app and RTK, sub-centimeter precision survey equipment. **This event was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. We hope to be able to run it at a later date, yet to be confirmed. Please keep checking our website for details**
- On Thursday 21st May, we are joined by historian and archaeologist Stephen Fisher. An expert on D-Day embarkation, Stephen will be talking to us about the south coast’s role in Operation Neptune.
