Events in 2020
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- CITiZAN will be undertaking a guided walk around the hulks of Forton Lake, as part of Gosport Heritage Open Days. The collection includes over 30 vessels of various shapes and sizes built roughly between the 1800s and 1960s. Hear some of the unique stories which illustrate the wide-reaching influence and significance of our maritime heritage in Portsmouth Harbour and beyond.
- An exhibition & installation which explores Kent's coastal sound mirrors & their context in an unique history of acoustic detection.
- A talk with a guest speaker on sound mirrors & acoustic detection. This is to launch the exhibition "Echoes" as part of the Ramsgate Festival of Sound.
- Join the Humberside team and Active Coast to Cover the Coast in 2020.
- Join the East Kent Coast Discovery Programme for a free two-day training session at Conyer Creek on the River Swale: explore the theory and practice of coastal and intertidal archaeology and get to grips with scale drawing by recording the remains of brick barges and a wharf. *This event has been postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. We hope to be able to organise a new date soon.
