Events in 2017
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- Owned by the National Trust, and once home to a highly secretive atomic weapons and radar testing establishment, Orford Ness is a large shingle spit with an extremely dynamic coastline and plenty for us to record. This weekend will concentrate on updating features using the CITiZAN mobile app as well as checking for features along the fragile shingle shelf.
- A free training event on the archaeologically busy foreshore at Coalhouse Fort Park. You’ll learn more about the history of this fascinating site and develop the skills to record and monitor features and add detail to CITiZAN’s interactive map of coastal and intertidal archaeology.
- Join CITiZAN on the banks of the Humber, at Victoria Docks in Hull for a training course to help record the remains of Earle's Shipyard, including the remains of three abandoned vessels.
- Come and join us and explore the the rich and varied history of Porlock Weir. We will walk our way through time from the Mesolithic submerged forest exposed on the beach at low tide to the 19th Century boat house nestled in the cliffs.
- The South West team are continuing their recording of the remains of a minesweeper in Gosport in collaboration with the NAS. They will visit the site over two days from the 2nd - 3rd May at low tide.
