Events in 2019
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- As part of our series of winter walks, this tidal trail takes you around the remains of a variety of hulks looking at the question of how and why ships become dumped in the estuaries all around the UK ?
- Join Citizan North for a guided walk along the Liverpool riverfront exploring Albert Dock and the site of the city's first dock. Learn how Liverpool's docks developed, lead the world in maritime architecture and became one of the most important ports in country.
- An informal stroll at low tide along the Saxon Shore Way, from Sandwich heading north. We'll look for points on CITiZAN's interactive map of intertidal archaeology and add any extra features as we find them.
- With the kind help of a grant from the Society of Antiquaries, CITiZAN and UCL conducted a small scale excavation on Mersea Island during the summer of 2019 and made some very interesting discoveries. Book now and join us for an evening talk during which we share the preliminary results, findings and interpretations and learn more about the next two years of foreshore investigations.
- Join the East Kent Coast Discovery Programme for a two-day training session in Stonelees Nature Reserve, Pegwell Bay.
