Blitz defence at Formby

By the beginning of the 20th century Liverpool had developed into one of the largest ports in the United Kingdom and as the Second World loomed on the horizon Merseyside was of vital importance to the country. As a result the ports on the Mersey and the surrounding area were heavily bombed. This blog describes one of the defences built in Formby in an effort to protect Bootle Docks.

Hovering on the edge

On until 11 February, at Nice Things, Ramsgate, is an exhibition of photographs taken at the site of Pegwell Bay Hoverport: a collaboration between the East Kent Coast Discovery Programme and members of East Kent Mencap's photography group. This blog showcases some of the photos from the exhibition and gives an overview of this 'weird but interesting' site.
