Small section of timber wreck washed ashore at Trusthorpe beach. Reported to CITiZAN and surveyed in May 2018, the fragment consisted of five framing timbers and four hull planks. Multiple in situ treenails, and transverse iron bolts, held the section together. Square holes surrounded by concretion also indicate the presence of nails at one point. The section measured roughly 1.8x1.7x0.3m.
Once lifted, the outer planking revealed a carved pattern, possibly a carpenters mark nicely preserved in the timber. The framing wood reaching away from the section was covered in marine growth and heavily worn, whilst the hull planking much less so, indicating that it may have been partially buried in sediment beneath the water.
