The site of Earle's Shipyard, established by brothers Charles and William. They started the business in 1845 when they purchased a foundry from James Livingston, on Waterhouse Lane. In 1861 there was a fire at the site, so the business moved to the new site on the Humber at Victoria Docks. In 1865, they were claimed to be the biggest shipbuilding business in Hull, missing out to Samuelson's at Sammy's Point (where the Deep is now). Earle'd made ship for the British and Japanese Navy, yachts for the Russia aristocracy and flat pack vessels for Peru. The shipyard was dismantled in 1932.
Some parts of the shipyard infrastructure remain such as wooden revetments and quite large ship hards. The three timber-hulled vessels are not related to the shipyard and have been hulked there. It is unlikely that Earle's built these as Earle'd specialised in iron and then steel hulled vessels.
