Description

Lighthouse built in 1680 after the loss of the PHOENIX East Indiaman (880094) among the Isles of Scilly; originally coal fired until converted to oil lamps in 1790. Part of the iron brazier used for lighting was removed to the Tresco Abbey Gardens (303529). The lantern and platform were replaced in 1806; further alterations were made about 1840. It was replaced in 1911.
