Sandwich Bay beach

To tie in with our fieldwork and our free two day training event Hungry for archaeology? Try Sandwich! we're collaborating with our fieldwork buddies the Nautical Archaeology Society to offer two guided walks along Sandwich Flats. Wellies are essential!

One walk will leave at 9.00 am and the other at 9.30am and they'll both last about an hour, following the same route. Come along, hear about and see the shipwrecks and intriguing lines of stakes that abound on the the foreshore, and learn about how we record such sites and features. There'll also be fun hands on activities as we go!

Meeting place: the public Car Park, Princes Road, Sandwich Bay*. *The postcode for Princes Golf Club will take you past this car park: Princes Dr, Sandwich Bay, Sandwich CT13 9QB (there’s no postcode for the car park itself). Please do not park inside Princes Golf Club as this is a private area.

The guided walks are free but please note that if you come by car then there is a £7 charge to use the Sandwich Bay Toll Road to the beach. There's a public toilet in the car park and a very nice cafe bar at Princes Lodge.

No need to book a place, just turn up! Contact lband@mola.org.uk if you've any questions
