"Lincolnshire Type" Pillbox on the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Nature Reserve

We'll spend two days teaching the skills of archaeological recording while spending time out on the coast on the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Nature Reserve. The dunes and local beaches hold secrets of Lincolnshire's past from prehistoric peoples to more modern war-time defences; and we'll discovery some of this throughout the course.

Day 1 we'll be based in Sutton on Sea at the Meridale Centre where we will explore the local area and introduce CITiZAN's Humberside Discovery Programme.

Day 2 we'll head out to the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Nature Reserve to discover more of Lincolnshire's coastal heritage and record the areas war-time defences in detail.

We hope to establish a group of committed volunteers to whom we can offer follow-up training sessions, workshops and survey days on different types of sites along the Lincolnshire coast.

For more information email sgriffiths@mola.org.uk.The event is free but booking is essential for the two day course. Booking is through Eventbrite.
