CITiZAN Training: South Shields Seaplane Station
24/02/2018 | 9 a.m.
Haven Point Pier Parade South Shields NE33 2JS
Come and join the CITiZAN team as we investigate the remains of the South Shields Seaplane Station, which was situated on Little Haven Beach. The Royal Naval Air Service operated the site for experimental craft, stopovers and patrolling the north-east coast. We plan to explore the area the station once sat upon, recording and documenting as we go, and train attendees in basic archaeological recording and the use of our free app.
The morning will be spent in the meeting room of the Haven Point leisure centre with some local history information from both CITiZAN and Chris Kolonko of the Home Front Legacy project, before heading out for the afternoon. Attendance is FREE, but please make sure to register before coming!
All ages are welcome, but please also remember to bring waterproofs, sensible sturdy footwear and a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
