Join Morecambe Bay Partnership and CITiZAN to help undertake a survey and create new records of the remains of an early 20th century pier at Plumpton, near Ulverston.

During 2015, one of our volunteers reported they had come across the remains of a possible jetty at Plumpton near Ulverston. Further research indicates that this was once a substaital structure, labeled as a pier on the historic maps. It once served the limetsone quarry, situated to the west of the jetty.

This inital survey work will help make a record of the site and begin to compile a background history of its history.

Volunteers will:

  • Help the team produce drawn, written and photographic archaeological records of the site
  • Record any features identified
  • Learn how to use the CITiZAN mobile application to record coastal sites

All equipment and training is provided. No previous experience is required. Please note that the site is muddy and a certain level of ability and sturdy footwear is required.
