Morecambe

Join Morecambe Bay Partnership and CITiZAN to help undertake a condition survey and update the records of Hest Bank Jetty, near Morecambe.

During 2004, the shifting sands of Morecambe Bay revealed a large stone jetty off the shores of Hest Bank. Oxford Archaeology North subsequently recorded this jetty in 2009 and this new work will use the previous survey to assess if/where the exposed jetty has changed and if any new archaeological features have been uncovered.

Volunteers will:

  • Help the team check the records compiled in 2009 and assess the condition of the site
  • Record any new features identified
  • Learn how to use the CITiZAN mobile application to record coastal sites
  • Produce drawn, written and photographic archaeological records of the site

All equipment and training is provided. No previous experience is required. Please note that the site is very uneven and a certain level of ability and sturdy footwear is required.

To book go to Eventbrite.
