Hulked vessel
Hulked vessel (71635)
- Easting
- 296443
- Northing
- 86056
Double ended, carvel built, flat bottomed barge (though it has at one point been suggested that it is a Brixham Trawler). The remains consist of a the bottom of the hull structure and and a few frames and upper planking and a substantial rudder arrangment in the starboard aft quarter. There is no evidence for any form of propulsion and therefore it is likely to have been towed when in use. The vessel was surveyed by the CITiZAN team and volunteers as a part of a training event in July 2017. It is likely to have been built in the mid-late nineteenth century when vessels such as these were commonly used for the transportation of bulk cargo such as clay, grain and coal.
