12/09/2021  |  10:30 a.m.

Cudmore Grove Country Park

We’ll be exploring the remains of 16th century Blockhouse built to defend Mersea during the reign of Henry VIII, a 16th century quay and beacon site, the remnants of Mersea’s second world war coastal defences, as well as sharing the story of East Mersea Stone, a natural shingle spit that only began to develop in the 1950’s. There will be opportunities to use our app to record and update sites along the way.

The walk will be 2 miles on mostly flat terrain, beginning and ending from the Cudmore Grove Country Park car park.

Rubber boots recommended!
