A three day training and recording event at the submerged prehistoric forest at Pett Level

Environmental geoarchaeologist Dr Scott Timpany carried out a Historic England funded project at this fascinating site in 2014 and will be joining us again for all three days as we record more trees at the site.

Friday 23rd

18.45-21.30 A evening classroom session with talks from Dr Scott Timpany and Dr Zoë Hazell, both of whom have been carrying our work at the site. There'll also be a talk on the CITZAN and a practical session looking at samples recovered from the site through high powered microscopes.

Saturday 24th

10.30 - 15.30 (low tide 12.05): A guided walk of the site followed by picnic lunch and a tree recording session

Sunday 25th

10.30 - 15.30 (low tide 13.35): Tree recording session

It's possible to just attend the talks and/or the guided walk. Everyone who attends all three sessions will receive a CPD certificate and a CITiZAN edition Archaeology Skills Passport. As with all CITiZAN training sessions, there is no cost for attending.

The classroom session venue and the foreshore meeting places are to be confirmed. For more details contact Lara Band at or on 07718 570384
