Description

Probable remains of part of 1913 wreck of the French trawler TADORNE, located at Howick Haven. The remains of a boiler and plating are consistent with the wreck of the TADORNE, which was a steam vessel, and in the location as recorded on the nearby monument to the crew who died (Heritage List for England 1041766); the location is also consistent with the manner of loss, i.e. by stranding. As at 2013, however, there is no primary evidence to confirm this likely identification. For the account of the wreck event, please see 1372275.
