Events in 2016
CITiZAN archaeologists are holding events all around England. Come see when we'll next be in your area and join us!
- Join CITiZAN South East for a weekend of free archaeological training. We'll be recording wrecks Oushla and UB121 as well as checking the condition of the Coonatto which we recorded with volunteers in 2015.
- The Nautical Archaeology Society and CITiZAN are joining forces to record a WWII Minesweeper on Gosport foreshore and the remains of Fort James on Burrow Island. In this two day course you will be introduced to recording vessels on the foreshore using offset survey, taking archaeological photographs and using the CITIZAN app to record threatened archaeology rapidly.
- Join CITiZAN on the banks of the Humber, at Victoria Docks in Hull for a training course to help record the remains of Earle's Shipyard, including the remains of three abandoned vessels.
- On the 13th-15th May CITiZAN will be holding a free training weekend focusing on the Barge Graveyard in Promenade Park, Maldon, Essex. This fascinating site contains the remains of 15 or more vessels including named Thames sailing barges, fishing vessels, an Admiralty launch and a lighter. Join us to learn more about the history of these vessels and to learn the skills needed to record them.
